Who’s coming down the chimney in your property if not Santa?

’twas the night before Christmas (or anytime over the holiday…)

According to West Yorkshire police, says a mate of ours in Leeds, burglars get very busy at this time of year. Why? Because they’re all Santa Clauses with lots of gift wishes to fulfill at this special time of year. And they’re going to be on the lookout for your property to fill up their sacks. Ridiculous, eh? It happens all over the UK all year round, but especially at Christmas.

Nonetheless, your Christmas time could be hopelessly ruined by a telephone call from the police on Christmas Day saying the burglar alarm at your business premises is ringing like mad, and could you please go down there. So, full of Christmas dinner, sherry, wine, brandy and whatever else Santa brought you to drink you take a taxi (which took 4 hours to arrive – it being Christmas) and get down to work to turn the alarm off and pacify overworked police and irate nearby residents… missing the Queen’s speech in the process.

Or you could save yourself a huge amount of bother and smarten up your business. Burglar alarms don’t have to be noisy nuisances that wake up the neighbours. With new smart technology, you can have cameras take still or video images of your property and send them to your smartphone. You can easily tell if the alarm is caused by trespassers, a stray cat, a gust of wind, a fire or just a false alarm caused by who-knows-what.

If your property is actually being burgled, you can call the police straight away. Police are often forced to ignore burglar alarms due to the fact there are just so many – or at best, they have to prioritize the callouts as available officers permit. You can get your incident right to the top of the queue if you can telephone police and say you’re witnessing a break-in at your property in realtime.

And you need never miss the queen’s Speech ever again… or Christmas pudding.
