Access control systems ensure protection of assets against theft irrespective of the size of the business. No matter how small or big
Safety of the staff and their property can also be ensured with the right kind of access control systems, especially when you consider the fact that the doors are generally kept open in buildings that use the lock and key system.
Effective Security
An electronic access control system effectively secures your building and assets. No need to worry about changing locks
You don’t have to worry about changing locks when you use an access control system. An access control system is implemented by issuing tokens to exercise control of access through doors. It is easy to bar access if the token is lost, stolen or not returned.
Automatic Lock Down
All the doors that are controlled by the access control system will automatically get locked when one door is closed.Preventing access to anyone who does not have a token.
It is also possible to set the doors to ‘unlock’ during a chosen time period with an access control system. Further, as part of access control arrangement, different access rights for different users can be provided based on hierarchy in the organization, time of access, etc.Full Access Control

Why Access Control?
An access control system is an electronic security system that addresses the limitations of traditional locks and keys, allowing for easy and complete management of access to restricted areas of a property. Installation of an access control system not only restricts entry or exit into or from a certain area by unwanted visitors, but will also protect the people already inside the area. An extended range of credentials can be programmed into the system and each event can be recorded into an event log for further evaluation.
An access control system is typically used by commercial enterprises, such as gyms that want to control access to its premises depending on time or membership levels. High users also include government buildings or any facility that requires a high level security, laboratories being a perfect example.
Credentials for an access control system come in various forms and usually involve the following :
* PIN numbers are popular since the vast majority of users are already familiar with such
* Magstripes or swipe cards are regularly used by major hospitality chains and can carry additional and useful information based on particular needs
* Biometric factors can refer to fingerprints, hand geometry, facial or retina recognition, as these are the more common human characteristics used
These credentials are processed by readers that can also be programmed to be of short range, usually up to about 100mm in distance, or long range, up to one meter. This is a fast method of entry that requires no physical contact, conforming to the Disability Discrimination Act. The latest addition to these readers, an integral part of an access control system, is the IP reader that uses software running on a Windows computer and is connected to the Ethernet network.
High security areas that require monitoring the movement of people in both directions may use magnetic locks and strikes that actually act as an access control system in themselves.
Precise access management is the determining factor for an access control system and a detailed analysis of who and how the access control system will be used is highly recommended.
Entries through doors that are included in the network access control system are allowed only on presentation of one of the following authentifications depending on the type of reader that is installed:
• A password or PIN,
• A smart card, or
• User’s fingerprint that is verified by biometric measurement.
In buildings that use network access control, commands stored in the PC are read or sent to each of the doors when someone presents authentication information. There are many advantages of using network access control systems. Some of the benefits are:
• Network access control systems allow flexible control. Permission can be granted to individuals, a group of persons or a department.
• It is easy to bar a token in the case of network access control systems.
• Network access control systems can be configured to generate reports to identify who accessed the doors and when.
• It is possible to extend network access control to additional buildings through LAN or WAN.
• A network access control system can be used to control other services such as CCTV, fire doors, lifts, lighting, intruder alarms, etc.
• Access permissions can be allocated instantly for a new person, a group of persons or a department when new cards are issued in a PC-based network access control system.
Summarizing, the decision on installing a network access control system depends on various factors such as the size of the business, the type of operation that is being carried out, the extent of control required and the type of additional services that are needed to be integrated with the system.

The compact systems are easy to administer and is a cost-effective means for controlling access to a building. Entering a PIN on the keypad at the door or swiping a electric token is required to gain access through the electronic doors in this type of single door access control mechanism. Only authorized persons issued with a valid PIN or electronic token can have access to these doors. Also if someone has previously been authorized but now has to be denied access for some reason their PIN or token can be disabled through the electronic system safely and they would not be able to cross this access control. The single door access control can be fitted to a single door or multiple doors in a building and all of these have separate access authorization for them.
When the single door access system is put in place the door gets locked every time it is closed. Anyone without the access PIN or token cannot enter the premises through this door. The single door access control gives full security to people and goods in a place which needs restricted access. This also gives a sense of safety to the people inside and this type of access control is most suited for places like apartment complexes, small business establishments, storage units, schools and sports clubs.
With the changing times the single door access system is also getting upgraded and better equipped to face the modern security challenges.
