The government is currently recruiting up to 50 brilliant brains to assist them in protecting the country against hacking attacks! Yet surprisingly, they are not looking for some teenage techno or baffling boffin, they are looking for people like you!

As part of a new national security programme, ministers are looking to recruit people who have untapped natural ability for hacking…even if they don’t know it yet.

The pilot scheme is specifically targeting soldiers, doctors and nurses. If they are interested in taking a new career direction, they will undergo extensive training designed to assist them in preventing a cyber attack which could bring chaos to UK soil.

A well-executed cyber attack could have an effect on our electricity supply or our air traffic control. Even the smallest outage of these services could have a catastrophic effect on people’s lives and so the government needs to take proactive steps now, rather than reactive steps later.

Bletchley Park

There is an echo of Bletchley Park about this new recruitment drive, one which helped the Allies win the Second World War. The story of Bletchley Park loosely goes like this. A number of difficult crosswords were published in the national press whilst the war office onlooked! Some of those who were successful in completing the crossword were invited to join the war efforts by breaking German Military Codes.
