All Aboard The Night Train…

If you struggle to get your head around the idea that for some, train spotting is a genuine hobby, then tube spotting is probably totally off your radar! The notion that some people could find excitement in chasing around the underground with a notebook and pen seems absurd, yet for self-confessed Tube Spotter Omari Anthony…the excitement has just peaked.

This was due to the launch of London’s all night Underground service, seen as a welcome addition by the 24-hour party people. Yet Omari was not down there after a wickedly wild concert in the capital, he was waiting to witness the first ever night train! But at only 16 years old and needing to gain permission from his mother, we ask the question, how safe is the all night service?

Mind The Gap….

Of course, the majority of troublesome commuters on the tube at 2am, are likely to be of the worse for wear variety! Indeed one ingenious couple decided to have a joke on those who may have overindulged in the capital’s bars and nightclubs, replacing regular Transport For London signage with some of their own creations. These included Caution Train May Spin and Polite Notice, Do Not Call Your Ex.

We shouldn’t cast aspersions on all late night commuters as some are en route to do a hard days work. Such as chef Giuseppe Cafaro, who is off to ensure the freshest of breads are baked just in time for the heavy London rush hour or indeed Katie Underwood, who is a volunteer for the Samaritans and on her way home from a night shift. And it is these people who need to know that the London Underground is safe to use at night.

Comfortingly, the British Transport Police have confirmed that there will be 100 officers on patrol and there is no reason that people should not feel the same level of security at night, as they would in daylight hours. After all is the tube not always dark and a little spooky….

Which brings us to our next point! Perhaps it’s not the drunks that we need to keep a watchful eye on……

Black Nun

Otherworldly sightings are no stranger to the London Underground and Bank Station is one of the most notable. Home to the Black Nun, commuters have reported a spirit dressed in all black, believed to be searching for her brother. There are also reports of unexplained stenches coming from the tunnels….unrelated but equally creepy, this is thought to be from the 17th-century grave which lies beneath the station, where people are buried who fell victim to the plague.

Safety is of paramount importance to all of us, whether we are at home or away. If you require any advice on a security matter why not call Blackburn Alarms today and we will happy to assist you. Don’t forget we offer advice on alarms, cyber security, fire and much more. Contact us today.
