Stolen Van Driven Wrong Way Up Motorway

We’ve blogged before about inept criminals who draw attention to themselves either after or even during their bungled crimes. Few, however, have gone to such extreme lengths as this 19-year-old man from Romford in Essex.

Having successfully made off with a ‘large van’ from an address in Billericay, Ryan Nee proceeded to drive over 50 miles on the wrong side of both the M11 and A14 towards Cambridgeshire.

We can only imagine how many people witnessed Nee’s failed getaway attempt before he was finally apprehended by police outside Godmanchester!

Of course there is a serious side to the story. Nee potentially put the lives of innocent motorists at risk by his actions, and we were pleased to read that there were no accidents or injuries.

But closer to our field of expertise is the fact that he was able to escape with the vehicle in the first place.  Car security isn’t really our ‘thing’, but given that this was a large commercial vehicle we can’t help wondering whether it was stolen from a building site or similar location.  Whether it was or not, it’s clear that there was a lack of adequate security in place to protect it.

Whether you own one van or a fleet of commercial vehicles, Blackburn Alarms can offer you the very best advice and guidance on how to protect your assets.

Don’t let it be your van that’s next spotted heading the wrong way up the motorway! Call us on 01254 739 255 or contact us here.
