Great Screen Robbers – The Votes Are In!

Here at Blackburn Alarms, we’re generally not in the business of throwing praise at those who break the law. But in the victimless world of TV and movie crime, even we have to admit, there are some villains who make it look pretty slick!

So we were intrigued to see the results of a survey on the Guardian’s website, where readers were asked to vote for their favourite on-screen robbers.

The results were certainly diverse. The top ten included, in no particular order, Patrick Swayzee’s surfer-villain Bodhi from the movie Point Break, David Niven’s Phantom (from the original Pink Panther) and Errol Flynn’s tight-wearing, merry-making Robin Hood.

Then there’s Kevin Kline’s fish-munching Otto from A Fish Called Wanda, and Steve Buschemi’s Mr Pink from Reservoir Dogs.

We couldn’t help wondering why we’re all so drawn to a great movie crook – when in real life most of us wouldn’t cheer on a criminal, let alone aspire to become one.  Maybe it’s the extravagant lifestyles or the unyielding power they hold over those around them.  Maybe it’s just the chance to dream of a life so completely different to our own.

Then again, maybe you should tell us! Which screen robber (we’ll accept murderer, kidnapper or other categories too!) would you be for a day, and why? Leave your answers in the comments below…
