Sometimes you just get lucky.
Take, for example, the case of the 80-year-old pensioner who was robbed in broad daylight by a conman who took advantage of his victim’s trusting nature to steal a wallet containing cash and credit cards.
Now that doesn’t sound lucky – but the twist came when the would-be master criminal left a bottle of drink at the scene of the crime … complete with his DNA!
Police recovered the bottle from the scene, and a DNA test came up with a match to a known local criminal who was later successfully prosecuted and sentenced to 20 months in jail.
