Axis IP video technology captures the first new arrivals of spring

We read a lot in the news and the industry press about how CCTV is being used to solve and even prevent crime.

This Easter, we thought we’d share news of a slightly different nature with you – news that shows that the world of security and CCTV doesn’t have to be all about the bad guys!

At Mainsgill Farm in Richmond, North Yorkshire, a state of the art Axis P5534 PTZ Dome Network Camera has been installed in the lambing shed, allowing real-time monitoring of progress at this critical time of year.

But far from just using the footage on-site, the CCTV pictures are being streamed live on the farm’s website – allowing viewers from around the world to keep up to date with the latest arrivals.

Andrew Henshaw, owner of Mainsgill Farm said: “The installation has helped all aspects of our business grow and expand both in terms of hits to the website and visitors to our farm shop and team room. We have been astounded by its popularity.

“The image quality from the camera is excellent, vibrant and just like you are watching it in person. The zoom and positioning of the camera allows us to get a wide scope of our nursery and the movement of the camera can catch everything that is going on with the lambs.”

Of course whilst the 24/7 streaming video of farmyard cuteness is great for the farm’s business, the installation also provides an excellent showcase for Axis, showing off the potential of their CCTV systems to a wide audience.

Atul Rajput, regional director, northern Europe at Axis Communications said: “This project really shows that the potential applications of network video extend far beyond that of simply security.”

The potential applications of CCTV and the related technology are incredibly wide-ranging.  For us, it’s nice to see a story in the security press that brings a smile to our faces!
